The Sheriff may issue a permit to carry a concealed weapon pursuant to Penal Code section 12050(a)(I). The Sheriff is not required to issue a concealed weapon permit nor does the applicant have a right to such a permit. California law has established a criteria to be examined prior to the Sheriff issuing a concealed weapon’s permit. Good Cause is not required.

To request an explosives permit, complete the downloaded forms and return them to the Sheriff’s Office at 2301 Technology Parkway, Hollister, CA 95023 by mail or in person.

Signature-in-Lieu Filing Period

Optional for Congressional, Legislative and Judicial Candidates

  • Introduction: Candidates for the March 5, 2024 election may draw petition paperwork to use signatures in-lieu of the filing fee.

The petitions must be filed with the county elections official in the county where circulated.
A candidate may submit a petition containing signatures of registered voters in-lieu of paying the filing fee required to run for office. The signatures submitted may cover all, or a portion, of the filing fee. 
Signers shall be voters in the district or political subdivision in which the candidate is to be voted on.

Signatures in-lieu of filing fee petitions may be submitted to the elections official on an on-going basis.
