Adult Probation

The department’s goal is to reduce recidivism and promote public safety. The use of comprehensive risk assessment tools and a response matrix enables the department to better identify and assist those individuals who are higher risk to re-offend. A response matrix is utilized for the following reason:

Using an evidence-based approach in the supervision of offenders elevates the role and responsibilities of probation staff from that of monitoring sanctions to promoting pro-social behavior and actively working with the client to reduce their likelihood to re-offend. Such an approach enables staff to uniformly respond to violations of supervision terms without the mandatory and direct involvement of the Court.

The Probation Department provides general services in the areas of: adult supervision/adult intensive supervision, drug intensive supervision, treatment referrals, restitution for crime victims, court report services, domestic violence program, community service program, electronic monitoring program (EMP), reentry planning/services and a pretrial services program.

 Juvenile Probation

The Probation Department provides general services in the areas of: juvenile supervision/juvenile intensive supervision, juvenile placement services, treatment referrals, restitution for crime victims, court report services, juvenile traffic court, truancy services, community service, home supervision and an electronic monitoring program (EMP).
