Eric Taylor - Sheriff/Coroner

Eric Taylor is the Sheriff-Coroner of San Benito County.  He was most recently assigned as a Captain and Commander of the Operations Division. 

He has previously overseen our Administrative Division as well.  In addition, he is a founding member of the Family Impact Center with First 5 San Benito, a founding member of the Opioid Task Force in San Benito County, a Hollister Rotarian, a Director for the San Benito Saddle Horse Show & Rodeo, a member of LULAC and the LULAC Farm Worker Task Force and the Co-Chair of the Child Abuse Prevention Council.

Sheriff Taylor draws on his experience from the Watsonville Police Department where he was a Patrol Officer, Corporal, Gang Detective, Task Force Member, Patrol Sergeant and Detective Sergeant. 

Tom Keylon - Undersheriff

Undersheriff Tom Keylon second in command to the Sheriff and oversees the Commanders.  He was born in Modesto, California and raised in the state of Oklahoma. After returning to California as a young adult, he attended the police academy in 1989 and started with the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office in 1990 as a deputy sheriff. He left the Sheriff’s Office from 1992 to 2004 to work for the Hollister Police Department. While there, his assignments included patrol officer, motor officer, field training officer (FTO), SWAT officer, and detective. Shortly after transferring back to the Sheriff’s Office in late 2004, he was promoted to Sergeant where he was assigned to oversee the Investigations Bureau, supervise a patrol team and later, run the Court Security Division.  As he continued in the Sheriff’s Office and aspired to promote into management, he decided to further his education where he graduated with an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts from Gavilan College and will be earning his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from San Jose State University very soon. Undersheriff Keylon has had extensive training within the law enforcement community, honing his skills in leadership and organization. While a sergeant, he earned a certificate in the 8-month intensive Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute course that is offered to the rank of sergeants and above across the state of California. He holds many certificates through Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). 

Tom Keylon has served the communities of Hollister and San Benito County for over 30 years and is continuously working towards positive relations with the community and partner agencies. 

During his off-time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and family and their three dogs, Leilani, Makana, and Allie Mae. Undersheriff Keylon is dedicated to this office and the community that he serves. 

Kellie Kennedy - Director of Administrative Services

Our Director of Administrative Services, Kellie Kennedy, is now the commander of our Administrative Bureau.

Kellie Kennedy was born in Los Gatos and raised in Morgan Hill. She moved to Hollister and was married in 1992. Kellie came to work in San Benito County in 2000 as a Secretary 1 in our county jail. If you know Kellie, you know she is always striving to make herself and those around her better. In 2005, she obtained her MBA and then transitioned to the CAO’s office as a management analyst focusing of the county budget.  As luck would have it, Kellie returned to the Sheriff’s Office in 2008 as the fiscal manager. I am proud to announce Kellie Kennedy is the Director of Administrative Services and is now assigned as the Commander of our Administrative Bureau.

She is the first female division commander in the history of our office. She supervises our civilian support staff to include records and civil division personnel. She reports directly to the Sheriff and is a huge asset to our office and community. She maintains our budget and is bringing a new era of professionalism to our front office.

Silvestre Yerena - Commander (Captain)

Commander Yerena is the commander of our brand new Community and Support Services Bureau. He oversees the Detective Bureau, CASPR Task Force, Special Intelligence Unit (SIU) and will be overseeing all of our community engagement and outreach.

He was born in Santo Tomas Guanajuato, Mexico.  Commander Yerena was hired as a Correctional Officer for our county in 2006 and received his US citizenship in 2007. He left to work in the Santa Cruz County Jail from 2012-2014. He returned to our community to serve with the Hollister Police Department from 2014-2018.  

In 2018, he returned to our office as a sworn Deputy Sheriff. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2020 to Lieutenant in 2021, and is now a Captain. He is proving to be a huge key to our community partnerships. He has already been serving on the Board of Directors at the YMCA on his own time since last year.

Tom Corral - Commander (Captain)

Commander Tomas Corral is the Commander of our Correcti0ns Bureau. He oversees all jail/corrections functions for our office as well as Court Security, Jail Transportation and Professional Standards.

Commander Corral was a police officer at the Hollister Police Department, and a Police Officer and Police Corporal at the Watsonville Police Department, prior to becoming an investigator for the Santa Cruz County District Attorneys Office. While there, Commander Corral was assigned to an auto theft task force called SCARE and was involved in complex investigations of trans-national criminal organizations and gangs.

His father was one of the last police officers in the San Juan Bautista Police Department. Commander Corral was initially hired as a Lieutenant and has recently been promoted to Captain.

He is a Hollister native and former Haybaler.

Adam Lobdell - Commander (Captain)

Commander Lobdell was most recently promoted to the rank of Commander (Captain), assigned to command our agency’s Enforcement Bureau, overseeing our Patrol Division. He additionally oversees our agency’s Field Training Program, K-9 Program, and Search & Rescue Program.

Commander Lobdell was born in New York City. Prior to beginning his law enforcement career, he served as an active-duty member of the United States Marine Corps, enlisting in the infantry. Commander Lobdell proudly and honorably served several tours abroad in various European and Mediterranean Theaters, ultimately being honorably discharged from his military service.

Commander Lobdell left a Sacramento area law enforcement agency and joined the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office, in 1996, where he has since remained diligently serving the community of San Benito County. Commander Lobdell has held the assignments within the Sheriff’s Office of Rural Crime Deputy (South County), Field Training Officer (FTO), K-9 Handler, Use of Force Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Task Force Member, and Patrol Sergeant.

Over the many years, Commander Lobdell holds several awarded certificates through California’s Peace Officer Standards and Training.
