The Corrections Division administers the Jail system in San Benito County.

The main 28,000 square foot jail facility, at 710 Flynn Road, Hollister, opened on November 17, 1992 at a construction cost of $7 million.

The Facility provides inmate workers to various agencies around the county to assist with work projects. Approximately 32 Correctional Deputies, Sergeants and Administrative and Maintenance support, staff the Corrections Division. There are also Correctional Deputies assigned to Court Security and Prisoner Transportation. The rated capacity for the jail is 124 inmates.

The main jail consists of two maximum-security modules with a capacity of 27 inmates each and two medium security modules with a maximum of 35 inmates each. The jail also houses female inmates in two separate housing units. One unit can house up to 10 medium female inmates. One maximum unit can house up to 8 females.

The new 22,000 square foot addition of the Curtis J. Hill Rehabilitation Center opened in 2020 at a cost of 25 million dollars. The highlights of the new facility include:

• Inmate Housing (two-story housing unit, 72 beds): Includes dayroom, shower and storage spaces; indoor/outdoor recreation areas; a control room; two multi-purpose classrooms; and a staff restroom
• Medical Services Suite: Includes a doctor’s/nurse’s office, exam room, inmate waiting area, supply room and janitorial storage
• Intake and Release Suite: Consists of a booking area, holding cells, dress-out stations, an exterior sallyport and vehicle turnaround driveway, officer’s lobby, offices, public entrance and waiting room, restrooms and a visitation room

San Benito County’s inmate population averages about 100 persons at any given time.
