As required by the California Food and Agricultural Code, the County Agricultural Commissioner compiles an annual report of the County’s agricultural production. With its unique climate along with fertile soils and water supplies, agriculture is the County’s largest industry. In 2023, the gross value of agricultural production came to over $360 million.

The top ten crops for the year 2023 were as follows:

  • Spinach: $42,929,000
  • Lettuce, Romaine: $38,663,000
  • Wine Grape: $31,901,000
  • Lettuce, Salad Mix: $30,970,000
  • Misc. Vegetable & Row: $26,605,000
  • Cattle: $25,814,000
  • Broccoli/ Broccolette: $25,404,000
  • Misc. Fruit & Nut: $21,618,000
  • Peppers: $19,372,000
  • Rangeland/Pasture: $18,245,000
